The formatter anomaly investigation has continued. Five different memory loads have been created to detect and monitor the anomaly events. MODIS can now determine which instruction was executing when the error occurred. It also keeps a list of the unique instructions which have been affected by the anomaly. The total number of errors is also stored in memory.
To prevent permanent damage to the FIFOs if two blocks are both in the WRITE state at one time, the FIFOs were only turned on during real-time passes. After several good passes with the FIFOs powered up on Thursday, they were left on during the back-orbit on Friday. A total of nine unique instructions were identified to have been executing when the errors occurred. No problems were encountered on Friday and MODIS was set to remain active throughout the weekend.
MODIS is in Science Mode on the A-side with the SVD and NAD open.
The formatter has warmed, although with the FIFO blocks off, it had not yet reached its pre- anomaly temperature.
